Rout of the Blues

Three Quarter Time track 5

Collected by Cecil Sharp in 1909 at Armscote in Warwickshire, from Tom Gardiner - a 71 year old blacksmith. The song probably dates back to the early nineteenth century. “The Blues” are the Royal Horse Guards, and “rout” in this case means that they are mustering ready for action.

Preceded by Cheltenham Waltz.

With
Paul Sartin - oboe
Jackie Oates - 5 string viola.
