Push about the Jorum
Three Quarter Time track 2
Push about the Jorum was written out in manuscripts belonging to Edward Winder (born 1817) and his brother James Winder (born 1820) from Wyresdale in Lancashire. We learned it from Andy Hornby’s excellent book, The Winders of Wyresdale.
The Oxford English Dictionary desfines Jorum as "A large drinking-bowl or vessel; also, the contents of this; esp. a bowl of punch".
Examples of usage include Oliver Goldsmith in She stoops to Conquer (1773): "Then come, put the jorum about, And let us be merry and clever" and Robert Burns in the Scots Musical Museum (1796): "Here's to them, that, like oursel, Can push about the jorum".
